Learn key decorative cake skills at Bishop Auckland College’s ‘have a go’ workshops

Bishop Auckland College is delighted to be offering
‘have a go’ workshops at this year’s Food Festival.

Join our chef lecturer Elizabeth MacIntyre, who will be leading sessions at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on both days.

If you would like to turn your hand to baking, we have three different workshops showing you how to impress your friends and family as you create cakes that look like flowers, allotments and pigs in mud!

Meet our chef lecturer
The college has been training chefs and sous chefs for more than 30 years, providing professional training alongside cooking courses for leisure and pleasure. 

Elizabeth MacIntyre 
Elizabeth, who has been with the college since 2012, assessing trainee chef apprentices in their place of work and training full-time and part-time students. Elizabeth’s speciality is cake baking and decorating.

‘Have a go’ – Flower Cupcakes
Have fun learning how to colour sugar to create a set of 4 marshmallow flower cupcakes

Have a go’ – Allotment Cake

Learn how to make chocolate soil and discover the art of sugarcraft to decorate an allotment celebration cake.

Price per ticket: £8.50 (adults)

Maximum group numbers: 12
Age group: Must be 16plus

 

‘Have a go’ – Pigs in Mud Cake

Learn how to make ganache and discover the art of sugarcraft to decorate a pigs in  mud celebration cake

Date and time: Saturday and Sunday 2.30pm – 3.30pm

Price per ticket: £8.50

Maximum group numbers: 12
Age group: Children age 12+
