The Artists’ Hub: Creative Activity & Hands-On Fun

Arts and Crafts

Join us in The Artists’ Hub on Bishop Auckland Market Place for a vibrant mix of creative activity, local making, and hands-on experiences across the Food Festival weekend.

At the heart of the space is a shared community hub bringing together local organisations, offering activities for all ages to drop into throughout the day. You can meet folk from Baccanalia, Civic Pride Wear Rivers Trust, , Bishop Auckland Town Council & the Greener Together group, and The Auckland Project & Hearth.

Take part in Plant It, Grow It, Show It – a simple growing challenge with a competitive twist. Pick up your heritage potato bucket, grow your crop at home, and bring it back for judging at the Bishop Auckland Harvest Festival, with prizes for everything from biggest yield to the ugliest spud. (Potato planting kits are limited and available on a first come, first served basis, so arrive early to avoid missing out.)

Get involved in the Can Crush Corner, where you can crush your empty drinks cans for recycling, with proceeds supporting the local foodbank at Woodhouse Close Community Centre.

Throughout the weekend, The Artists’ Hub will be open as a working creative space. Meet resident artists, explore exhibitions, and take part in activities including:

  • Artist stalls and live creative activity
  • 100 Portraits of Bishop Auckland exhibition
  • Drop-in art workshops
  • Selfie Station

Whether you’re making, growing, exploring or just stopping by, there’s something happening throughout the day.

No booking required – just drop in.
