An Evening with Mike Bartley,
Bishop Auckland’s very own
MasterChef contender.
Mike served up a delicious four course dinner at Bishop Auckland Town Hall. Following the sell-out success in 2023 the festival team are delighted to welcome back Mike Bartley. His Pop - Up Dining Experience offers a delicious menu for all dietary requirements.
Mike is a County Durham-based private chef and soon-to-be owner of Jörd, a tasting menu restaurant coming to Bishop Auckland later in 2024. Since appearing on BBC MasterChef in 2021, Mike has appeared at Bishop Auckland and Seaham Food Festivals, performed cookery demonstrations in local schools and colleges, and worked as a private chef with functions ranging from small intimate dinner parties to large-scale events and weddings across the UK.
Mike has recently taken on the project of converting two buildings on Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland into a 40-cover restaurant and adjoining cocktail bar as part of the redevelopment of the area, and is hoping to open the doors later this year. Named after the Old Norse goddess of the Earth, Jörd will showcase Mike’s passion for foraged and locally sourced, seasonal produce, bringing a relaxed yet refined dining experience to Bishop Auckland.
