Jane Beedle Cookery Workshops - The Bishop Auckland Food Festival 2018

Jane Beedle, runner-up in the 2016 series of Great British Bake Off, will showcase her skills at this year’s Bishop Auckland Food Festival, which takes place from Saturday 21 to Sunday 22 April.

Originally from Kent, Jane wowed audiences with her home style baking and will now join winner of the same series Candice Brown at this year’s two-day celebration of food and drink.

Jane will be hosting a demonstration at 1pm in the Cookery Theatre on Saturday 21 April, with tickets at just £5, as well as running two bread making workshops that all amateur bakers are welcome to join.

The 10:30am workshop will welcome bakers aged six years and older where they will learn to make sweet chocolate bread, followed by an 11:45am workshop open to bakers aged 16 years plus to make savoury Focaccia bread. Each workshop costs £5 per baker. Book your tickets below.

Chocolate Bread
The base for this delicious chocolate bread is one of my favourite bread doughs, it is enriched with eggs and butter to make a brioche style loaf.  With a little adaptation the recipe can be used for burger buns and wonderful savoury breads too.  I want to show you how easy it can be to make bread, come and join me for this workshop and you could be eating a slice of this for tea.

Foccaccia Bread Making Workshop

Saturday 21st April – 11.45 am
For Age 16+  – £5 per ticket
Located in the Bishop Auckland Town Hall

I have used a very simple white bread recipe as the base for this Italian style bread, you will be surprised by how easy this wonderful bread is to make, topped with olives, tomatoes and rosemary it is a favourite in my house.  I have experimented with just letting the dough rise once and the result was a big hit, I’m sure purists will argue that I should take more time over this bread but my family would disagree, I can’t get it in the oven fast enough for their liking.
