Bishop Auckland Food Festival Presents … Savour Live at The Market Place Live Stage
Food Festival News: Ever wondered when tucking into a tasty piece of trout where it comes from? Where do chefs get their ingredients from? What inspires them to plate up dishes for you?
During Savour Live at BAFF2018 Market Live Stage, Savour magazine editor Georga Spottiswood, will be on stage chatting to two of the region’s top chefs about their careers, favourite dishes and what they love to cook in their restaurants.
Richard Allen (appearing Saturday at 11.30am)
Meet Richard Allen, executive chef at The Orangery restaurant at Rockliffe Hall – a five-star hotel in Darlington.
Originally from Poole in Dorset, Richard relocated from Jersey to the North East with his wife and two sons to join Rockliffe Hall, taking the helm in The Orangery.
Since then, the restaurant has gone from strength to strength, and last year won four AA Rosettes, making Rockliffe Hall the only hotel, golf and spa resort in England to hold this accolade.
When it comes to cooking, Richard’s inspired by nature’s larder. He’s a keen forager and loves rustling up recipe which are reminiscent of his childhood, such as his mum’s carrot cake.
Simon Hicks (appearing Sunday at 11.30am)
Simon Hicks is the head chef at The Lord Crewe Arms in Blanchland, which was named Inn Of The Year in the Good Pub Guide 2018.
Born and bred in Australia, Simon now calls Corbridge home. As head chef, he brings skilful, seasonal and honest cooking to The Lord Crewe Arms – as well as hosting exciting private events and cooking demonstrations at the Gatehouse – The Lord Crewe Arm’s event space.
Simon loves working with quality farmers and producers, to get the best from his produce.
Make sure you don’t miss out on the action and schedule in seeing one of these amazing chefs on The BAFF2018 Market Live Stage.
